Early life & Education :
William Henry Gates III,known as Bill Gates was born on 28 October, 1955 in Seattle,Washington is an American computer programmer and the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation.
From his early life, Bill was a bookworm and always spending many hours poring over reference books such as encyclopedia. At the age of 13,his parents enrolled him at Seattle’s exclusive preparatory Lakeside School. This time a Seattle computer company offered computer time for high school students. And then the same year Bill wrote his first software program and help to form a group of programmers who after founded a company named Traf-O-Data that sold traffic-counting systems to local government. He then graduated from Lakeside in 1973.
Bill admitted into Harvard University in the fall of 1973 and dropped out of college in 1975 to pursue his business, Microsoft, with partner Allen.
Bill and Allen were familiar from there high school age and they both worked for the Traf-O-Data programs. Though they were in different University but wanted to started their own business in microcomputers programs and founded the Microsoft in 1975.They bagan by adapting BASIC , a popular programming language used on large computers,for uses on Altair, one of the first commercially available microcomputers. At this point they were quite successful in this project.
Microsoft’s BASIC software was popular among computer hobbyists who shared it freely, believing in open sharing. But Bill Gates viewed this as theft, emphasizing that software developed for sale should not be freely distributed. So he wrote an open letter to computer hobbyists in 1976 declaring that continuous distribution and use of software without paying for it would prevent good software from being written. Though the letter was upopular with computer enthusiasts but Bill was determined in his way and stucks in his beliefs and run the company with greater innovation.
Microsoft released MS-DOS for IBM PCs in 1980, marking a significant breakthrough as IBM PCs became the industry standard. Under Bill Gates’ leadership, Microsoft developed Windows,which dominated the software market with MS-DOS and making IBM and PC makers reliant on it.Gates became a billionaire by 1986 and, despite initially staying private, gained public attention due to Microsoft’s power and antitrust scrutiny. He was seen by rivals as ruthless but admired for his business acumen and innovation in software.
Gates stepped down as CEO of Microsoft in 2000 but stayed as chairman and chief software architect until shifting focus to philanthropy.

In June 2006, Warren Buffett pledged an ongoing gift to the foundation, aiming to raise its assets to approximately $60 billion over 20 years. The foundation has since focused on global health, development, education, and community causes.
Since stepping down from Microsoft in 2014, Bill devotes his much time and energy to the work of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
